All Transjakarta Bus Lanes will Be Concreted

The Jakarta Provincial Government is going to overlay the all Transjakarta bus lanes with concrete this year in a bid to create convenience for passenger. This is because the asphalting method does not effective and tend to be wasteful, because easily damaged by puddle and heavy vehicles.

We do this because the bus passenger began to increase. Moreover, the bus capacity reaches 14 tons, thus roads easily damaged. That's why the lane will be concreted soon

Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki T Purnama said the project is urgent, because asphalt does not able to withstand Transjakarta bus loads which has now reached 14 tons per fleet, until damaging roads due to lack of asphalt materials  resistance to withstand the weight of the bus.

"We do this because the bus passenger began to increase. Moreover, the bus capacity reaches 14 tons, thus roads easily damaged. That's why the lane will be concreted soon," he expressed, at City Hall, Monday (5/5).

East Jakarta Applies Concrete Layer for Damaged Road

He explained that concretisation method will be applied to all Transjakarta bus lines such as roads and separator located at the edges. In its construction, there should be no excavations to install bus separator as it would cause a hole that will make the foundation broken by the incoming water.

"I've instructed the Jakarta Public Works and Transportation Departments for not doing excavation on separator installation after the lane has been concreted. I want they build the separator coincided with concretisation project to prevent the damage to the foundation," he told.

While for the fund would be calculated and then processed through e-budgeting system without the tender process. As for its material type, must use the high-quality concrete where it can dry for 12 hours. "Just do the concresation several meters and we will pay it directly," he uttered.
